Tired of doing a million roommate scenes or family-in-the-kitchen scenes or office scenes or in-the-car scenes? For that matter, tired of doing scenes that take place in our familiar American world of 2011? So are we. Rich Prouty and Joey Bland are veterans of ComedySportz Chicago and the renowned Improvised Shakespeare Company, both short form and long form ensembles that revel in genre and style work. Taking your scenes outside the familiar world we inhabit every day can both stretch your personal improv range and give depth to the world created in your Harold. We'll work on genres and styles that are familiar to us from film and TV, etc., yet noticeably absent from our long form work. We can be inspired by any suggestion to spread our scenes wide in terms of character, plot, theme, and environment, but also in terms of the style they're played in.
JOEY BLAND moved to Chicago to study improvisation in the year 2000. He has performed and taught all over the United States as well as in China, Scotland, Malaysia, Austria, and Singapore. He is a member of both the Improvised Shakespeare Company and the musical improv group Baby Wants Candy. Joey toured with the Second City for two years and starred in the title role in the Second City's original hit musical, Rod Blagojevich Superstar, a role cited by the Chicago Tribune as one of the Top Ten Theatrical Performances of 2009. Joey played for ComedySportz Chicago for over 6 years. He is a member of the weekend house team, Chaos Theory, at iO Chicago.
RICH PROUTY is an ensemble member of ComedySportz Chicago, as well as faculty for the genres and styles level in the education program. He sailed with Norweigian Cruise Lines as a cast member of Second City BoatCo in 2009. Rich studied improvisation at SC, Annoyance, and i.O. where he performed with the house teams Valhalla, The Lindbergh Babies, Bullet Lounge, and currently Chaos Theory. He portrayed Mr. Winston in the internationally acclaimed The Winston Revue, hosts the popular cult game show The Improv Match Game and is a member of The Improvised Shakespeare Company.
