The Number One hurdle to becoming a better and more interesting improviser is the necessity of another person to run scenes. This workshop relieves you of that burden. In this workshop, Brian O'Connell gives you a mathematically based way to run "drills" and form a "workout regimen" in regards to your long form improvisation. You will learn the 10 Questions To Every Scene, The 4 Basic Scene Types, Instant Character Composition, The 3 Points of Character Work, and, of course, Nuclear War.
You can go to the gym and work out alone to make yourself a better, stronger basketball player. The Art Of Mimicry and How It Leads To Nuclear War gives you the tools to make you a better, stronger improviser. All from the comfort of your own home.
BRIAN JAMES O'CONNELL is a writer/director/actor and regular performer and coach at the iOWest Theater in Los Angeles. An acolyte of Miles Stroth (Del Close's "War Chief") and often referred to as "Miles Jr.," Brian derives most of his approach to improv from The Deconstruction, the form created by iO's legendary team, The Family. With his internationally touring improv duo, Billyhawk, and his main troupe, Dr. God, Brian has performed in festivals in Denver, San Francisco, Phoenix, Toronto, Philadelphia, Los Angeles and Chapel Hill, NC. Well-respected as one of Los Angeles's premier improvisers, Brian is famous for his encyclopedic knowledge of minutiae and his insane recall ability/memory (as a coach, he has never written down a single note - ever).
